Today is:
Can Panic Disorders Be Treated
In our title we ask the question, “Can
this disorder be treated?” and the answer is “Yes”.
There are many ways to deal with
anxiety disorder.
One thing you need to realize is that you are not
alone. There are
millions of people around the world that suffer from panic and
anxiety disorder.
One of the first things you should do
is consult with a physician and get their input on
understanding exactly what’s happening to
you.
Especially that it’s your mind that is creating this
condition.
Ask your doctor, your physician, how
you can develop ways to cope when you feel the onset of an
anxiety attack.
There are many things that may be
suggested, counseling being one, prescribing medicine
another.
Relaxation techniques are especially
important.
Personally, I come from the having a
very personal experience with this disorder, I suffered with it
for years. The
training and advice that I received worked very well for
me.
You can feel these attacks coming
on. They come out
of nowhere. It can
be the middle of the day; the middle of night,
anytime. Learning
to control them is the key to recovery.
The number one thing that you must,
and I emphasize must, convince yourself these thoughts that
create extreme physical & mental concerns about overblown
problems can be controlled.
When you feel the increase in your
blood pressure, tightness in your chest that has you gulping
for air like a fish out of water, all of these things are
frightening thoughts. But, they are created by your
mind.
You have to learn how to let go of
whatever triggered the anxiety attack. You have to know and believe
that in minutes you’ll be in full control and able to go about
your normal day.
Here are a few tips that might be
helpful.
Find somewhere to lie down
flat. One of the
reasons you are going to want to lie down is because all the
symptoms created make some people dizzy and even
nauseous. So, that
is the first physical thing you can do to take
control.
The second thing is you have to gain
control of your breathing. You have to learn to breathe
from the diaphragm.
An easy way to start is to place your
hand on your stomach and use visualization, along with physical
reaction.
Visualize your lungs slowly filling to
their absolute capacity and actually feel the lower part of
your stomach rising and filling with air.
You do this slowly. You actually control the
amount of air you are taking in. Note the word,
“Control”. Isn’t
that what we’re striving for? To control the anxiety that
you’re mind is creating by controlling the
systems.
By breathing in fully, holding your
breath for a 2 second count & slowly letting the air out
through your nose and feel your stomach relax.
As you can see relaxation is the
absolute key, and knowing you have control over your breathing
and your muscles are a huge step in taking back control from
this panic attack.
